Each orin is carefully crafted one by one.

One-of-a-kind sound.

Its relaxing sound that makes you feel calm reduces stress. In recent years, more and more people are using them for yoga, meditation, and home interior decoration.

The clear, calming sound is said to reach the ears of the Buddha in the Pure Land of Paradise, and since ancient times it has been thought to have the power to purify a place and dispel evil spirits.

Fewer than 10 orin craftsmen in the whole country use more than 100 hammers, anvils, and pads for different purposes, and they beat brass sheets by hand, burn them to soften them, and repeat the process dozens of times to form an orin. The brass plate is then struck and tempered by listening to the sound of the hammering.

Shimatani Shoryu Koubou, founded in 1909, is a venerable workshop that has delivered Keisu (large orin) to Eiheiji Temple (Fukui Prefecture), Sojiji Temple (Kanagawa Prefecture), Nanzenji Temple (Kyoto Prefecture), and other famous temples throughout Japan using the reliable techniques it has cultivated over the past century or so.

Includes a bai (ring stick) and a kumowa (ring stand).
